On Sunday, August 18th at their “Love Your Neighbors BBQ,” Jesus Was Homeless was blessed with a large donation from the staff of Branson Bank. After a year of raising money internally, Branson Bank selected Jesus Was Homeless to be the recipient of Branson Bank’s annual Casual For A Cause donation in the amount of $2,500.
Every Friday, staff members of Branson Bank have the opportunity to dress casually in nice jeans and sneakers in exchange for a $5.00 donation to their Casual For A Cause Fund. As the year progresses the funds grow and they are set aside specifically to go towards a local Non-Profit effort. The staff nominates and votes on the organization that will receive the funds.
“We approached our staff early in the year to determine a local Non-Profit that would benefit from the jean day funds,” said Bill Jones, President. “The response for Jesus Was Homeless was overwhelming. Our staff is very aware of the big impact that Jesus Was Homeless is making on our community.”
Jesus Was Homeless plans to use the $2,500 donation to purchase a large freezer to hold food that will be distributed during their Thursday evening meal deliveries to area residents living in weekly motels. Currently, the organization depends on area businesses to store their perishables and the donation will help them streamline and consolidate some of these efforts within their building located on the backside of the Vista Plaza Shopping Center across from Walmart on W. Hwy 76. For more information on how you can get involved with Jesus Was Homeless, please visit: www.jesuswashomeless.org.
